NEW YORK – NARAL Pro-Choice America today announced its endorsement of Representative Eliot Engel in his campaign for re-election to represent New York’s 16th Congressional District.
“Representative Engel has a proven record of fighting for New York women and families and is a steadfast ally in standing up to anti-choice attacks,” said Ilyse Hogue, President of NARAL Pro-Choice America. “Representative Engel understands that women must be able to make their own personal decisions about pregnancy, free from political interference. We are proud to endorse him and ensure that he will continue to fight for our fundamental freedoms in Congress.”
“It’s a great honor to once again accept the endorsement of NARAL Pro-Choice America, a true leader in the fight to make reproductive freedom a reality for all women in our country,” said Representative Eliot Engel. “Particularly now, as we fight the ruthless abuses of the Trump Administration and the relentless attack on reproductive rights and healthcare by Republicans in Congress, I will tirelessly work to ensure that women can make critical decisions about their health in consultation with their health professionals — and without interference from politicians.”
Representative Eliot Engel has spent his career defending reproductive freedom and has earned a 100% score from NARAL in the Congressional Record on Choice. As a member of the House Pro-Choice Caucus, Engel has consistently spoken out against dangerous Trump administration policies, such as rolling back coverage for contraception and denying family-planning funds for overseas health centers.
NARAL Pro-Choice America and its network of state affiliates and chapters are dedicated to protecting and expanding reproductive freedom for all.
