Congressman Jerrold Nadler today endorsed his close colleague Congressman Eliot Engel for reelection.
The endorsement adds to New York delegation endorsements that include Chairwoman Nita Lowey, House Democratic Chair Hakeem Jeffries, and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, as well as a lineup of prominent Democrats endorsing Engel that includes former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, House Democratic Whip James Clyburn, , Chairwoman Maxine Waters, Chairman Adam Schiff, and many others.
“Last year, as Committee chairs investigating the impeachment charges, Eliot and I stood together against Trump and this corrupt administration. Just like we’ve stood together for years – to pass the ACA, push for Medicare for All, and guarantee reproductive freedom. Eliot is one of my greatest colleagues in Congress, a true progressive, and a lifelong Democrat with a proven track record. We need him in Washington, fighting for the Bronx and Westchester.”
Congressman Nadler chairs the House Judiciary Committee; Congressman Engel chairs the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Together, they were two of the six House chairman who investigated the Trump Administration in the impeachment case.
Congressman Eliot Engel (D-NY) is seeking re-election in the 16th District of New York, including the north Bronx and southern Westchester. The son of an ironworker and a homemaker, born in the Bronx and raised in public housing, Rep. Engel is a major progressive Democratic leader who chairs the Foreign Affairs Committee and has fought for the rights of women, organized labor, immigrants, our minority communities, and LGBTQ Americans for three decades.
