MOUNT VERNON – Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard of Mount Vernon has endorsed Congressman Eliot Engel for reelection, adding to the chorus of elected Democratic leaders supporting the lifelong Democrat in the June 23rd primary.
Mayor Patterson-Howard pointed to Congressman Engel’s record of battling against bigotry and Trump, while delivering needed Federal funding for the residents of her city.
“Eliot puts people first, fighting for equity and women’s rights in the era of Trump,” said Mayor Patterson-Howard. “Eliot has scored 2.8 million in federal funds in the last two months to help with rent eviction, COVID-19, and health services in Mount Vernon. Eliot continues to secure funds for Mount Vernon Healthcare Center and is fighting to keep Mount Vernon hospital open.”
“It’s truly an honor to be endorsed by Mayor Patterson-Howard, who is doing so much to change Mount Vernon and stands as a real voice of conscience in our community,” said Congressman Engel. “Shawyn is a true progressive partner in government, a real fighting Democrat, and her leadership has rightly received widespread recognition during the pandemic and the fight for justice reform.”
