Eliot has fought for quality, affordable health care for all Americans, and taken action to improve health care services in our communities.
He is a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Health. He played an instrumental role in writing some of the key provisions of the Affordable Care Act that reforms and improves our health care system and the way health insurance companies operate.
The Affordable Care Act bars insurance companies from denying insurance on the basis of pre-existing conditions for children, and for everyone starting in 2014. It bars terminating coverage for people when they become sick, and ends annual and lifetime limits on coverage. It requires insurance companies to cover young adults until they reach the age of 26 on their parents’ policies.
